The China-U.S. Young Maker Competition Final Awarding Ceremony & The inauguration Ceremony for The Innovation Center for China-US Youth Exchange (2nd batch), were held at China Millennium Monument in Beijing on July 26, 2019, sponsored by the Ministry of Education of China. Ms. Liu Jin, the Director General of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges, Ministry of Education of China, Mr. Robert W. Forden, Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in China (Charge d'Affaires of the US Embassy in China), etc. attended the Awarding Ceremony. Professor Yu Hai-feng, Principal of Guangdong University of Finance and Economics (GDUFE), and Professor Peng Lei-qing, Secretary of CPC General Branch of International Business School, GDUFE & Executive Dean of International Business School, GDUFE, were invited to attend the ceremony.
Ms. Liu Jin, the Director General of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges, Ministry of Education of China, pointed out in her address that The China-U.S. Young Maker Competition has set up an important platform for the innovation cooperation between the Youth from both countries, in which a lot of ideas in the events are the application of the leading technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, etc. in real life situations, showing that these young makers are not only concerned about technology, but also committed to improving the lives of ordinary people with advanced technology. She sent wishes that the youth of China and U.S. can jointly promote the innovation and fighting spirit commonly shared in these two countries’ cultures, keep up with the new round of industrial and technological revolution and the tide of the times, and conduct the sincere exchanges, close cooperation, mutual learning with an open and inclusive mind. She also expected that the youth of China and U.S. could inject more positive energy into the development of the steady and sound long-term relationship between China and U.S.
Mr. Robert W. Forden, Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in China (Charge d'Affaires of the US Embassy in China), also sent the congratulations and wishes for the successful holding of The China-U.S. Young Maker Competition & the cultural dialogue between China and U.S.
Subsequently, the Innovation Center for China-US Youth Exchange was official launched. Ms. Liu Jin and Mr. Robert W. Forden jointly inaugurated for the center. GDUFE’s principal Yu Hai-feng also got on stage and attended the inauguration ceremony. Mr. Chen Da-li, the director of the Division of American and Oceania Affairs, Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges, Ministry of Education of China, addressed that the Innovation Center for China-US Youth Exchange is the important platform for all departments to carry out the innovation education, which will exert great significance to cultivate innovative talents, promote the transformation of scientific research achievements, and serve the national strategy. The Innovation Center for China-US Youth Exchange is an open and shared platform. It is to support the construction of the center, that all departments should coordinate resources, and coordinate the participation of the domestic and foreign universities, Chinese and foreign enterprises, think tanks and communities etc. in the development of the center, to carry out the practical cooperation in aspects of mentoring of youth makers, curriculum construction, international exchanges, operational mode etc..
Professor Huang Qing-an, Dean of International Business School, GDUFE said that the successful launching of the Innovation Center for China-US Youth Exchange is another major achievement by the jointly built Foshan campus of GDUFE by four parties including the Foshan Municipal Government, Sanshui District Government and the partnership universities and companies. The establishment of the center will positively promote the high-quality development of the regional economy of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

“中美青年创客交流中心”在北京正式成立并揭牌
2019年7月26日,中华人民共和国教育部主办的中美青年创客大赛在北京中华世纪坛举行总决赛颁奖仪式暨第二批“中美青年创客交流中心”揭牌仪式。 中国教育部国际合作与交流司司长刘锦,美国驻华大使馆使团副团长(美国驻华大使馆临时代办)傅德恩(Robert W. Forden)等领导出席了颁奖仪式。广东财经大学校长于海峰教授,国际商学院党总支书记兼执行院长彭雷清教授应邀参加。
中国教育部国际合作与交流司司长刘锦在致辞时指出,中美青年创客大赛为两国青年之间的创新合作搭建了重要的平台,本届的参赛项目很多创意都是人工智能、大数据等科技前沿领域在实际生活场景中的应用,说明这些青年创客在关注技术的同时,也在致力于用先进的技术改善普通人的生活。她希望中美两国青年能够共同发扬两国文化中共有的创新和奋斗精神,紧跟新一轮产业和科技革命的步伐与时代浪潮,以开放包容的心态真诚交流、通力合作、互学互鉴,在创新的道路上不仅做同行者,更是相交相知的好朋友,为中美关系长期健康稳定地发展注入更多的正能量。美国驻华大使馆使团副团长(美国驻华大使馆临时代办)傅德恩(Robert W. Forden)也对中美青年创客大赛的成功举办和中美社会和人文对话表示祝贺与祝福。
随后,大会宣布第二批中美青年创客中心正式成立,刘锦司长和傅德恩代办为其揭牌,于海峰校长代表广东财经大学上台参与揭幕。教育部国际司美大处处长陈大立强调:中美青年创客交流中心是各单位开展创新教育的重要平台,对培养创新型人才、推动科研成果转化、服务国家战略具有重要意义。中美青年创客交流中心是开放、共享的平台。各单位要协调各方资源支持中心建设,统筹国内外高校、中外企业、智库、社区等深入参与中心发展,在创客导师、课程建设、国际交流、运行模式等方面开展务实合作。
广东财经大学国际商学院院长黄庆安表示:这次成功申办“中美青年创客交流中心”,是四方共建佛山校区的又一重大成果,感谢佛山市和三水区人民政府以及各合作伙伴院校和公司等单位对“中美青年创客交流中心”工作的大力支持。该中心的成立对粤港澳大湾区的区域经济高质量发展有重要的意义和积极的推动作用。
