Since Chinese President Xi Jinping proposed the Belt and Road Initiative in 2013, China has established extensive cooperation with many countries in terms of infrastructure construction, social development, economy, culture, science and technology etc. The economic construction of the Bay Area represents a significant implementation of the national Belt and Road Initiative. In order to actively promote the sustainable development of the Bay Area, and to re-examine BRI placing it in a meaningful political and social context, the International Business School of Guangdong University of Finance & Economics (IBS, GDUFE) and the Journal of Balkan and Near Eastern Studies (JBNES) will organise an international colloquium on 23 June 2019. This international colloquium will provide a major platform for debate for the many scholars, both at home and abroad.

The theme of this colloquium is Belt and Road Initiative and Bay Area Economic Development. The Call is open to all scholars working on topics that are relevant to the Belt and Road Initiative and China’s Bay Area economic development as a crucial link connecting to BRI. An indicative list of themes of the colloquium about which prospective submissions will be considered are:

1.Impact of Sino-US trade conflicts on Bay Area and on BRI in general

2.Industrial innovation and upgrading of the Bay Area driven by digital technology

3.Synergies and technological innovation in the Bay Area

4.Making the Bay Area a new developmental hub for BRI

5.How to construct the new system of open economy and socialist governance in the Bay Area

6.The latest experience of the globally integrated development model of the Greater Bay Area

7.Obstacles and problems in the flow of productive factors in the cross-boundary market of the Bay Area

8.The coordinated development of the financial system and the upgrading of the manufacturing industry in the Bay Area

9.Social policies: education, medical care, environment, green development and people’s livelihood in the Bay Area

10.Determinants and logistics of China’s domestic BRI

11.The crisis of the Western-led financialisation, sustainable green development and China’s contribution

12.Bay Area economic development and BRI

13.BRI, the Eurasian Union and China-Russia relations

14.BRI in Pakistan and Central Asia, and local social and political determinants

15.Greece and the Balkan Corridor: The BRI against austerity policies in Europe and the Balkans

16.BRI, Eurasia and new American imperialism

Other innovative proposals related to the construction of the Bay Area and BRI will also be considered. Both Chinese and English Papers can be submitted. Papers accepted by the conference will be published in the conference papers collection. Excellent English papers will be peer-reviewed by the Organising Committee for possible publication in two special issues of the Journal of Balkan and Near East Studies(JBNES) SSCI, JCRQ3; excellent Chinese papers will be peer-reviewed by the Organising Committee for possible publication in Journal of Guangdong University of Finance & EconomicsJGDUFE)CSSCI.

Those who wish to have their paper reviewed and discussed should submit an abstract (of around 300 words) of their paper to 20181050@gdufe.edu.cn by 7 May, 2019. Feedback will be given by the organizing committee by 17 May 2019. Successful submissions will be required to send the draft of full paper to 20181050@gdufe.edu.cn by 10 June 2019.

 Submission process

  

The colloquium will consist of roundtable presentations, followed by discussion of the author’s work led by at least one of the members of the JBNES editorial team. The intent is for authors to receive actionable feedback that can then be incorporated into their papers. Researchers who cannot attend the Conference are also invited to submit manuscripts for consideration for publication, however, the Organising Committee will not provide feedback. Those papers will be given feedback only in case they are approved for undergoing peer-review.

  

Guidelines for Authors

1.  The Colloquium only accepts Chinese or English papers which have never been published on academic journals or conferences at home or abroad. All the contributors shall strictly adhere to academic morals, and conduct the self-paying plagiarism checking. Papers involved in plagiarism will not be considered.

2.  The wordcount of the body part of a contribution submitted in Chinese shall not be less than 8,000. Please refer to the Instructions for authors published on the official website (http://gsxb.gdufe.edu.cn/CN/column/column106.shtml) of JGDUFE for writing requirements and format standards.

3.  The wordcount of the body part of a contribution submitted in English shall be around 6,000. Please refer to the Instructions for authors published on the official website (https://www.tandfonline.com/action/authorSubmission?journalCode=cjsb20&page=instructions) of JBNES for writing requirements and format standards.

  

About Fees

This colloquium does not charge for conference service, conference paper collection, and publication of excellent papers.  

1.  This colloquium does not charge for conference paper collection. Once a paper, in English or in Chinese, is successfully collected by the colloquium, it will be charged for free to be compiled in full length into our conference paper collection.

2.  The colloquium does not charge for publication of excellent Chinese papers. Once a Chinese paper is successfully collected by us, it will be compiled in full length into our paper collection. Among them, some excellent Chinese papers, chosen after being reviewed by the Organising Committee, will have opportunities to be published on the supplement or the regular issue to JGDUFE. The author does not have to pay for the publication of the Chinese paper.

3.  The colloquium does not charge for publication of excellent English papers. Once an English paper is successfully collected by us, it will be compiled in full length into our paper collection. Among them, some excellent English papers, chosen after being reviewed bythe Organising Committee, will be recommended for the anonymous review procedures of two special issues to JBNES. The author does not have to pay the publication of the English paper.

4.  The colloquium charges no conference service fees. The participants do not have to pay for their participation. Participants successfully submitting their papers can have dining services free of charge.

  

About the Colloquium Registration

For the colloquium registration, the contributor and participant shall send the following materials as required to the conference service email 20181050@gdufe.edu.cn by June 18, 2019. The colloquium registration includes the following 3 ways:

1.  Contributor’s registration (attending the colloquium): The author of an English or Chinese contribution who choose to attend the colloquium,should send an email attached with the final draft of paper + the scanned copy of ID card or the passport + the submission registration form(Submission Registration Form.doc) to the conference service email 20181050@gdufe.edu.cn, by June 18, 2019,after receiving the email of formal notice of paper acceptance by the colloquium (the email of formal notice of paper acceptance by the colloquium should be sent out by June 15, 2019). And the title of email should be marked in the following format:Contributor’s registration (attending the colloquium)+Paper ID number+Author’s name+Author’s mobile phone number.

2.  Contributor’s registration (not attending the colloquium): The author of an English or Chinese contribution who choose not to attend the colloquium, should send an email attached with the final draft of paper + the scanned copy of ID card or the passport + the submission registration form(Submission Registration Form.doc) to the conference service email 20181050@gdufe.edu.cn, by June 18, 2019, after receiving the email of formal notice of paper acceptance by the colloquium (the email of formal notice of paper acceptance by the colloquium should be sent out by June 15, 2019). And the title of email should be marked in the following format:Contributor’s registration (not attending the colloquium)+Paper ID number+Author’s name+Author’s mobile phone number.

3.  Participant’s registration (without successfully submitted paper): The participant who have no successful submission of papers to the colloquium, should send an email attached with the scanned copy of ID card or the passport + the attendance registration form(Attendance Registration Form.doc) to the conference service email 20181050@gdufe.edu.cn, by June 18, 2019. And the title of email should be marked in the following format:participation only (without successfully submitted paper)+participant’s name+participant’smobile phone number.

2013年中国国家主席习近平主席提出“一带一路”重大倡议以来,中国在基础设施建设、经济、文化、科技等多方面与相关国家开展广泛合作。湾区的经济建设,是主动落实国家“一带一路”倡议的重大举措。为了积极推动湾区经济发展,结合政治和社会背景对“一带一路”倡议进一步深入研究,广东财经大学国际商学院(IBS,GDUFE)与SSCI国际期刊《巴尔干和近东研究杂志》(JBNES)将于2019年6月23日联合举办主题为“一带一路”倡议及湾区经济发展”的国际学术研讨会。本届学术研讨会将为广大学者提供一个高起点、大范围、多领域的学术交流平台。

本届学术研讨会将接受中英文论文投稿。经学术会议成功录用的中英文论文将被收录至会议论文集中。经学术会议评审出的优秀英文论文,将推荐在国际SSCI期刊JBNES的两期特刊上发表;经学术会议评审出的优秀中文论文,将推荐在中文CSSCI期刊《广东财经大学学报》上发表。

 投稿流程图

  

本次学术研讨会的形式主要包括论文宣讲与交流,现场点评与指导。现场点评与指导将至少由国际期刊JBNES的一名编委成员进行主持,以使论文作者获得有效反馈信息。对于未能出席会议的学者,其投稿论文经学术会议成功录用后,其中经学术会议评审出的优秀英文论文, 也将推荐在期刊上发表;但组委会将不会提供论文评审的反馈意见。

  


投稿说明

1.  会议仅接受在国内外学术期刊会议中未曾公开发表过的中文或英文论文投稿作者谨守学术道德,并通过查询系统自费查重涉嫌抄袭的论文将不被录用。

2.  中文投稿论文的正文字数应不少于8000字,其具体写作要求及格式规范应参见《广东财经大学学报》官网公布的投稿指南(http://gsxb.gdufe.edu.cn/CN/column/column106.shtml)。

3.  英文投稿论文的正文字数应在6000字左右,其具体写作要求及格式规范参见国际期刊JBNES官网公布的投稿指南(https://www.tandfonline.com/action/authorSubmission?journalCode=cjsb20&page=instructions)。

  

费用说明

本次会议的会务费会议论文集收录费优秀论文的期刊出版费均免费:

1.  会议论文集收录费用为0元/篇:经会议成功录用后的中英文论文,均将被全文收录至会议论文集,会议论文集的收录费用为0元/篇

2.  优秀中文论文的期刊出版费为0元/篇:经会议成功录用后的中文论文,将被全文收录至会议论文集;其中部分优秀中文投稿论文,经由会议组委会审稿后,将被推荐至《广东财经大学学报》增刊或正刊上发表,无需再缴纳中文论文的期刊出版费。

3.  优秀英文论文的期刊出版费为0元/篇:经会议成功录用后的英文论文,将被全文收录至会议论文集;其中部分优秀英文投稿论文,经由会议组委会审稿后,将被推荐进入JBNES两期特刊的匿名评审程序,无需再缴纳英文论文的期刊出版费。

4.  会务费为0元/人:参会人员无需缴纳参会费;成功投稿的参会人员会议期间餐饮费免费。
